Visit Lake Texoma
Following are some of our favorite activities at Lake Texoma and the surrounding area.
With a million and one things to do in the Texoma area, it gets a little overwhelming trying to plan your stay.
Please keep in mind that this is a very short list of what Texoma has to offer. There are literally hundreds of ways to spend your time at Texoma, and it is impossible to provide info on it all.

Eisenhower State Park: 50 Park Rd 20, Denison, TX 75020. I love this park because it is a quintessential 1950’s state park. The land was purchased by the Army for the Dennison Dam project (Lake Texoma). There is a playground, camping and trails. I will occasionally take my youngest son to this park just to enjoy the early morning. The park shows as having an OHV that allows dirt bike and ATV driving with a permit. I have not used the OHV trails.
Hiking: Cross Timbers Hiking Trail is about 45 minutes west. It is a great hike along the bluffs overlooking the lake, only about 300' of elevation change on the trail but it's nice. During the rainy season, it can be washed out. Google Cross Timbers Hiking Trail for more information.
Driving around the lake: Looking to drive off road without 4-wheeling? Check into Fobb Bottom state recreational hunting area which is close. Also about 45 minutes away, this is Oklahoma State Wildlife Management Area. Over 2000 acres of floodplains, river bottom and cropland. Be careful in the sand near the water. You can hunt on this land (with the appropriate licenses and in the appropriate seasons).
Hagerman Wildlife Refuge: a 12,000 acre area where thousands of migratory birds stop each year. You can find out what activities are going on at https://www.friendsofhagerman.com/Home . There are a variety tours available, in your car, on a tram, or on the trails. Check out their 2nd Saturday program. I have taken my son here, the Park office/bookstore is a great place to stop for kids and to learn about the city that is now under water at Lake Texoma.

Day Trip: Turner Falls & Pies. Turner falls is a water fall in Davis Oklahoma. It’s located about 1 hour 30 minutes from our properties. I have taken my kids there many times; the property is pretty and has a neat history. https://www.turnerfallspark.com/parkadmission. Call turner falls to make sure they are open. On the way home, there is a little shop that makes Pies. They are single serving pies you get right from the kitchen. https://www.arbucklemountainfriedpies.com/menu
Day Trip: Tishomingo. “Tish” as some folks call it located about 1 hour north of Pottsboro, and 45 minutes from Kingston. This is small town USA. It’s recently famous for having a restaurant and bar the Blake Shelton owns, but I like it as a simple day trip. They have a little park that has a water feature that younger kids can enjoy.
